Highland Arts Unlimited Inc. 50th Anniversary Mural

Highland Arts Unlimited, Inc newest mural is located on Main Street at the M&T Bank/James Law Firm downtown Keyser. The theme of the mural is a celebration of 50 Years Highland Arts Unlimited (HAU) has brought to the area of music, visual arts, theatre, etc., including Apple Alley Players.

Kelson Thorne, mural artist from Petersburg, WV, worked with HAU board members to create the design of the mural.

This mural was made possible by the US Wind Force Foundation, Highland Arts Unlimited Community Arts Projects, Huber Michaels & Company, M&T Bank, James Law Firm, Boggs Supply, Highland Arts members, and individual donations.

Pictured is the original concept submitted for approval. I completed this digital sketch with my iPad via the app Procreate.

These drafts give insight to my creative process. For every mural, I meet with clients prior to gather ideas and preferred design elements.

Personally, I enjoy seeing these drafts as much as the finished mural. The rough sketches serve as the origin of the idea. It's fun turning someone's idea into a sketch, then translating that sketch turn into a mural. The process is the best part.
